Wheelchair Fencing

Wheelchair Fencing pits two opponents of the same disability classification against each other, aiming to score points by striking valid target areas on their opponent's body with a fencing weapon held in one hand. With three distinct weapons—foil, épée, and sabre—fencers engage in a delicate exchange of agility and precision. Matches are decided by reaching 15 points or leading in points after three rounds, with team competitions requiring 45 points for victory.
Two wheelchair fencers in action. Both athletes are dressed in full fencing attire, including masks and white protective clothing. The fencer on the left, with "ITA" and the Italian flag on their mask, is facing the fencer on the right, who is extending their arm and foil toward their opponent. The scene is set in an indoor arena with dim lighting and blurred background.
