In celebration of the Tokyo 2020 Games this summer, we’re shining a light on Terasaki Budokan – the newest recreational space in the heart of LA’s Little Tokyo that’s fostering community through sports and activities.

The multi-purpose facility from Little Tokyo Service Center was created to enhance the quality of life for Little Tokyo locals and Angelenos alike through its diverse, inter-generational programs available to families, kids and seniors.

LA28 Creator Aidan Kosaka and his father, Alan Kosaka, were among the many people who helped bring the vision of the Budokan to life. Through sports, arts and culture, the center creates a place for people of all backgrounds to enjoy the benefits of diverse programming they may not have had access to otherwise, all while preserving and celebrating Japanese American culture.

“Community centers like Terasaki Budokan in Little Tokyo are essential to making sport more accessible for everyone and giving kids a much-needed space to play and compete with friends and neighbors,” said Casey Wasserman, LA28 Chairperson. “Sport teaches us so many lessons we carry with us for life so it’s critical we continue to invest in making sports available for kids across Los Angeles and around the world.”
