LA28 Celebrates YMCA's Healthy Kids Day

In celebration of YMCA’s 30th anniversary, the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games joined groups from across Los Angeles to celebrate Healthy Kids Day at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles invited LA sports teams and community organizations from the region for a day of play for LA kids and families. LA28 volunteers led sports challenges and gave out prizes. Families got to meet and take photos with Olympians and learn about the importance of exercise as a part of healthy daily living.

LA28 has taken an active role in supporting health and wellness for kids and teens across Los Angeles as part of its commitment to ensure the Olympic and Paralympic Games provide long-lasting benefit to the community. With support from the International Olympic Committee, LA28 is investing $160 million in sports for kids in LA ahead of the Games to make sports and its benefits accessible to any kid who wants to play.

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum proved a perfect backdrop for the event given its Olympic legacy. In 2028, the Memorial Coliseum will host the Summer Olympic Games for the third time and the Paralympic Games for the first time.

The LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games will use the best of Southern California’s existing world class sports and entertainment venues to host hundreds of elite sports events in the summer of 2028.
